June 7th, Scout HQ: Paul Davies gave a really interesting talk on the development of science through the ages, reaching the conclusion that science emerged long before the scientific revolution in the 17th century, led by scientists like Boyle, Hooke, Newton et al. Indeed, there is some evidence that even stone-age man used ‘science’ when driving animals over a cliff edge so as to capture them. Paul outlined the important contributions made by Greek natural philosophers, and Arab and Indian cultures over many centuries.

Alpine Flora
